TTOC Inspires Next Generation at Barataria North Secondary School.

Introduction
The Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) recently took its message of excellence, passion, and purpose to the halls of Barataria North Secondary School. Engaging with eager Form 3 and Form 4 students, the visit focused on one exciting question: How can you turn your love for sports into a fulfilling career.
Beyond the Athlete: Exploring Sports Careers
While many young people dream of standing on the Olympic podium, the TTOC team of Ms. Safiya Sylvester and Ms. Jariel McCollin expanded the vision. Students learned that the sports industry offers diverse career paths beyond competition—including sports medicine, coaching, sports journalism, event management, nutrition, physiotherapy, and sports administration.

An Interactive Session
The session was dynamic and interactive. TTOC representatives shared personal journeys, highlighted local and international success stories, and encouraged students to identify their unique skills—whether athletic, analytical, creative, or leadership-based
Students asked thoughtful questions about qualifications, internships, and how to get started. The energy in the room showed a genuine hunger for knowledge and direction.
Why This Matters
By targeting Form 3 and Form 4 students, the TTOC is reaching young people at a critical decision-making stage—when subject choices and extracurricular activities can shape future careers. The message was clear: You don’t have to be a professional athlete to have a winning career in sports.

Looking Ahead
The TTOC remains committed to grassroots engagement and youth development, visiting schools across Trinidad and Tobago to plant seeds for the future of our sporting industry.
